Lucedale-George County Public Library

Many individuals enjoy the Lucedale-George County Public Library. It is the third largest in circulation of materials in the Jackson-George Regional Library System. In 1991, the library won national notoriety in relations with the theme “the little library that could”. Mississippi Shakespeare in the Lucedale City Park is sponsored by the Library every two years. The Lucedale City Park is transformed into a venue of short scenes from William Shakespeare by local actors with Elizabethan music and entertainment.

Books, audio tapes, videos, and periodicals are available for all ages on both educational and entertainment subjects. Free public computers are available with Internet access and linked with state-funded MAGNOLIA family of databases. All computers also have Microsoft Office Suite and other software for public use. Expansion of the current library building, beginning in summer 2001 will add an additional 6,000 square feet of space to the current building. This expansion will allow the library to furnish meeting room space, increase programming, number of volumes, and public computers.

Library cards are free to anyone with verification of their social security card or Drivers License. The Library Hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 9AM-6PM; Wednesday and Friday 9AM-5PM; and Saturday 9AM-1PM. Books may be reserved or renewed by library card holders on-line
