The City of Lucedale celebrates Mississippi Municipal Week

Spirit Students at George County Middle School learn about their Municipality, the City of Lucedale. City Clerk Kathy Johnson Anderson, MMC made a presentation to the 7th and 8th graders speaking about Mississippi Municipal Government Week, January 15-21, 2017. To make the students  aware of where important buildings are in their City,  their assignment was a scavenger hunt of significant buildings such as, City Hall, Police Department, Fire Department, Courthouse, etc. They were asked to take a selfie picture with their assigned  building  once they located it and email it to The City Clerk for promotion of Municipal Government Week on the City’s website.

City of Lucedale joins Mississippi Municipal League in celebrating Municipal
Government Week.

Speaking to the Lucedale Rotary Club, City Clerk Kathy Johnson Anderson presented the program on January 23, 2017.  She spoke about the City of Lucedale and joining with the Mississippi Municipal League to celebrate
Mississippi Municipal Government Week.  Telling the group how municipal government is the closest to the people and speaking on projects being done within the City. She spoke on the budget, taxation and many other topics letting them know that citizens only know about the projects they can see such as paving streets, or a street cut because  of a busted waterline, etc.

Many times there are projects that are not known about such as the construction of bleachers at the Public Works Shop or Police Officers educating mothers on how to install a child restraint seat properly,
issuance of a business license, etc. All these projects and many more go unnoticed sometimes.

So, Join us in continuing to celebrate our local Government, the work they do every day and the wonderful small town we live in!
