The City of Lucedale has an outstanding government on the local level. It is made up of a Mayor and five Aldermen. Four Aldermen are elected from their perspective Wards and one is elected at large. The Mayor is also elected at large. Each of these offices are four-year concurrent terms. Lucedale is fortunate that its governing body exercises strong leadership qualities and believes that the dream for Lucedale should always be that of building a better tomorrow starts with the elected officials on the local level of government.

What makes the City of Lucedale with a population of 2,923 thrive while others its size seem to wither and become dependent on larger cities? It is credited to innovative leadership and citizens who have made it their home.

The City of Lucedale is fortunate to have excellent trained safety personnel in both the Police and Fire Department. Both operate 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The local Government is continually upgrading infrastructure as growth demands.

Mayoral Message

Welcome to Lucedale and please stay a while!!

I want to start by thanking the people of Lucedale for choosing me to serve as Mayor and the Aldermen/Alderwoman who will be serving alongside me for their commitment to making Lucedale the "Best Little Town" it can possibly be.

I want you to know we care about our City.  One of my favorite coaches was the legendary Bobby Bowden.  He had a quote that has always stuck with me: "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."  This quote was my philosophy for over 28 years in public education and I think it is applicable to municipal government as well.  As the Mayor of Lucedale, I want to be transparent and always available to you, but most of all I want you to know "we" care.

Four things I have believe our citizens deserve:

  1. Clean and beautiful streets
  2. Clean water.
  3. A safe and protected place to live.
  4. Abundant and state of the art recreational opportunities.

I promise that over the next four years, each of our departments will strive to bring you, the citizens of Lucedale, the best quality of life we can provide.  If you have a problem or see something that needs our attention, please come by City Hall or call and let us know about it.

Again, welcome to Lucedale, and we're glad you decided to join us.
