Ivy League Garden Club, Walt Massey GMC Buick, Century Bank, Wright Realty, Agricola Baptist Acteens, and Daisy Campbell Litter Patrol joined forces on Saturday, October 8th to beautify Main Street for fall. Over 300 gorgeous marigolds were planted! This project was in preparation for Praise in the Park, Gingham Tree, and the Veteran's Day parade. Thousands of visitors come to our city for these popular events each year. The plants were purchased through the generosity of Walt Massey, Century Bank, and Ivy League Garden Club. A delicious lunch was provided by Walt Massey and Century Bank for all the volunteers. In addition to the flowers, scarecrows will be constructed by members of the Ivy League Garden Club and placed throughout Main Street.
On December 3, 2016 the City of Lucedale unveiled its newest sundial. This armillary or equatorial sundial is donated by Jim Corley, Dr. Seth
Scott and the American Tank and Vessel Co to the city of Lucedale. It was designed by Jim Corley and fabricated by Dr. Scott and Steve Archey
of ATV. It has the unusual feature of being able to adjust for variations in the sun's position throughout the year. The sundial is registered with the North American Sundial Society as # 849. Mr. Corley's wife Nancy, their son Kent Corley and grandson Ben Corley, son Brent LeTellier and daughter Carolyn Elssteroth were in attendance at the dedication.
At the February Board Meeting, Mayor Lee presented several boy scouts from Troop 25 with City pins in appreciation of the street cleaning they have been doing throughout the City. Scouts receiving pins included: Noah Hawley, Chandler Stanfield, Glen Harvison, Wyatt Dupont, Jonathan Pierson, and Ron Purvis.
